Updated 8 Oct 2026: first version, checked against Suno's release note, all five Albums help articles and the pricing page.

Suno Albums shipped on 5 October 2026. Three days in, every guide explains the buttons. Not one ran the numbers on what it costs to carry that album out of Suno and onto a streaming service, which is the thing most people making an album want.

Suno Albums is a feature, launched on 5 October 2026 for web, iOS and Android, that lets you group your own songs into an LP or EP with a cover, a description and a track order, then publish it to your Suno profile. Followers get a push notification. Nothing goes to Spotify.

The catch is on another page. Paid plans now cap downloads at 20 or 60 a month, and an album you want on Spotify has to be downloaded first. I did that math below. Pro and Premier land on the identical price per track, which changes which plan makes sense for a release.

I run Roo's Newsletter. My Suno prompts and styles library went up in May 2026, and this page is the Suno Albums follow-up to it, written from Suno's own documentation instead of from other blogs.

What Suno Albums changed on 5 October 2026

Before this week, the only way to group songs on Suno was a playlist, and a playlist can hold anybody's tracks. Suno Albums adds a second container. One artist only. Suno's release note puts the pitch in a single line: "When you publish your album, your followers will get a push notification."

That notification is the whole point. A playlist never pinged anyone.

Suno Albums didn't arrive alone. Look at the dates.

Italy's AGCM opens a probe into Suno's terms

Music Business Worldwide

Read those four rows together. In five weeks Suno made it cheaper to stay and more expensive to leave: a free way to release inside the app, and a meter on every file you carry out. The Italian competition authority's investigation, announced on 6 October 2026 under Article 33 of Italy's Consumer Code, targets the terms that sit under all of it, including a content licence the regulator calls too broad and a waiver of moral rights. It's a probe. No ruling, no fine yet.

One more thing I checked myself, because Suno's help page says a published album may be featured on the homepage or on Explore and I wanted to see what that looks like. When I loaded suno.com/explore logged out on 8 October 2026, the page showed two shelves, Best of v6 and Staff Picks, both built from single songs. No album shelf. Day three, so that may change.

How to make an album in Suno

Suno's help centre spreads the Suno Albums steps across five short articles. Here they are in one place.

  1. Open Library, pick the Albums tab, and select + New Album.

  2. Add cover art (upload one or generate it), a title, a type (LP or EP) and a description. Select Create album.

  3. On the album page, select + Add songs. Browse your songs or your playlists; inside playlists you'll only see tracks you made.

  4. Drag tracks into order.

  5. Want feedback first? Share the draft link.

  6. Open the action menu, choose Publish Album, review, decide on the cover toggle, and confirm.

Got a playlist that's really an album? Open it, hit the three-dot menu and choose Make Album from Playlist. The original stays. You keep both.

Two details the walkthroughs skip. The LP or EP choice does nothing mechanical: Suno's FAQ says it treats both the same way and the label is yours to pick. And you don't need to publish songs one by one before adding them, because publishing the album publishes every unpublished song inside it.

That second detail is where people get hurt. More on it below.

On cover art, Moe Lueker, who built an 11-track album with early access, reports that the Advanced cover generator costs 20 credits per run. Unconfirmed on any Suno page.

The Suno Albums download math nobody ran

No launch guide covers this. Publishing through Suno Albums uses zero downloads, while getting the same record to a distributor uses one download per track, and downloads are now rationed on every paid plan.

On Suno's pricing page as of 8 October 2026, Pro at $8 a month includes 20 downloads and Premier at $24 a month includes 60, which works out to $0.40 per downloaded track on both plans.

Same price. Premier doesn't buy you cheaper exports. It buys you four times the credits, Suno Studio and three times the export volume, so the upgrade only pays off if you're generating heavily or releasing more than one LP a month.

For one album, stay on Pro.

The monthly-billing figures come from the savings Suno lists ($24 a year on Pro, $72 on Premier), not from a stated monthly price. Both paid plans can buy extra downloads. Price per extra? Not listed anywhere I looked. I also don't know whether downloading the same track twice, say once as WAV and once as MP3, counts as two against the cap, so budget as if it does.

Readers in India: a third-party App Store tracker listed Pro at about ₹999 and Premier at about ₹2,999 a month, GST included, in June 2026. Neither is confirmed by Suno. If ₹999 holds, that's roughly ₹50 per downloaded track.

Does a Suno album go to Spotify?

No. Anything published through Suno Albums lives on your Suno profile. Nowhere else. None of the five help articles, the release note or the tutorial mentions Spotify, Apple Music or any outside store. To get there you download each track, then upload through a distributor, and you need a paid plan because the free tier has no downloads and no commercial rights.

Distributor rules are their own maze. Secondary reporting says DistroKid accepts AI-made tracks if you hold the rights and disclose AI use, a step it rolled out widely in May 2026, while TuneCore restricts fully AI-generated work. I'm working from coverage here, not the distributors' own policy pages, so read those before you pay for anything.

As I wrote in the prompts library about audio watermarks: "That's a separate problem from licensing and worth solving before you distribute, not after." Same logic applies to the album.

My take: Suno Albums is a retention feature first and a release tool second. The strongest objection is fair. A push notification to real followers is distribution, it costs zero downloads, and no playlist ever gave you that. If you have 2,000 followers on Suno, publish there. If you have 40, the draft link is the useful part, because it gives you a clean page to send people before you spend $4.80 of download allowance moving 12 tracks to a distributor.

What Suno Albums does to your private songs

Publishing an album makes every song on it published and public. That's in Suno's own help article on adding songs. A demo, an alternate take, an upload you never meant to share: if it's in the tracklist, it's out.

Two hands-on sources, Moe Lueker and The AI Musicpreneur, say the publish screen also warns that this can't be undone. Suno's five help articles don't use that wording, and none of them describes an unpublish or delete path for an album. So the safe assumption is the harsh one. Treat Publish as permanent.

What you can change afterwards is generous. Add, remove or reorder tracks. Rename it. Swap the cover. The public status is the only door that doesn't swing back.

There's a second, quieter trap in the cover toggle. With "Use Album cover for all songs" on, each track's artwork is replaced by the album cover. Per Suno's FAQ, removing a song from the album restores its original art, so nothing is lost, but if you spent credits on individual covers you probably want the toggle off.

What Suno hasn't said about Suno Albums

No track limit. No cover dimensions. No plan requirement. No word on whether a second notification fires when you add a track later. Ignore any "EP is 2 to 4 tracks" figure you see online; it isn't Suno's.

Before you publish Suno Albums: checklist and fixes

Run this once per Suno Albums release.

  • Every track in the list is one you'd want a stranger to hear.

  • No private demos or alternate takes in the draft.

  • Cover toggle set on purpose, not by default.

  • Track order tested by listening start to finish.

  • Draft link sent to at least one person.

  • Downloads left this month cover the tracklist, if a distributor is next.

  • The plan you made the songs on was paid, if you want commercial use.

Symptom

Likely cause

Fix

A private demo went public

Publishing an album publishes every unpublished song in it

Pull it from the draft before you publish

Every song lost its own artwork

"Use Album cover for all songs" was on

Turn it off at review; removing a song restores its art

A playlist track is missing from the album

Albums only accept songs you created

Nothing to fix; it's by design

Ran out of downloads mid-album

20 or 60 a month cap

Buy extra downloads or split the export across two billing months

The album isn't on Spotify

Publishing on Suno isn't distribution

Download, then upload through a distributor

Songs across the album sound like different artists

Style tags changed between tracks

Reuse one tag block; one Persona for vocals

That last row is an old problem. From my prompts library: "Skip re-pasting your tags at each extend, and the track drifts." An album multiplies that drift by twelve.

Check all of this yourself. Five minutes. Open suno.com/pricing and read the downloads line. Open Library, then Albums. Build a draft with one throwaway song and stop at the review screen.

Suno Albums FAQ

What are Suno Albums?

Suno Albums are releases made of your own Suno songs, published as an LP or EP with one cover, a description and a fixed track order. The feature launched on 5 October 2026 on web, iOS and Android. Publishing puts the album on your profile and sends followers a push notification.

How many songs can a Suno album have?

Suno hasn't published a limit for Suno Albums. The help centre lists no minimum or maximum, and the LP or EP label doesn't change how the album behaves.

Is Suno Albums free?

Suno's help pages list no plan requirement for creating or publishing an album. What costs money is leaving: the free plan has zero downloads and no commercial rights, so exporting an album for outside release needs Pro at $8 a month or Premier at $24 a month, billed yearly.

Can I turn a Suno playlist into an album?

Yes. Open the playlist, open the three-dot menu and choose Make Album from Playlist. Only songs you created carry over, and the original playlist stays untouched, so you keep both.

Can I unpublish a Suno album?

Assume you can't. Suno's help articles describe no unpublish option, and two hands-on reviewers report a warning on the publish screen saying the action can't be undone. You can still edit the tracklist, title and cover after it's live.

How much does it cost to export a 12-track album?

$4.80 of download allowance on yearly billing, on either paid plan. That's 12 downloads at $0.40 each, from Suno's pricing page on 8 October 2026.
